Food riots, starvation, malnutrition– all of these horrible afflictions on humanity are not NECESSARY, but one more predictable outcome of a monetary system and a political system gone insane. As one bubble bursts, investors move into the next logical ‘commodity’, stoke things up, take their profits, and when that bubble bursts, move on to the next one.
This is the inevitable consequence of a grab for wealth, influence and power that is more and more eating itself alive. In order to keep the rich rich, to keep an evil system afloat, we are now down to the nitty-gritty of the necessities of living. The only place further down is to declare the very water we drink and the air we breath a ‘commodity’ for purchase.
Thanks to the influence of the climate change agenda, about 30% of the supplies of staple foods like corn, wheat, soybeans and rice, have been diverted into biofuels that are more expensive to make, and just as damaging to the environment to process, as the oil we are trying to avoid using.
Profit-taking supercedes EVERY human need: rather than remove food sources from the stock market and commodity futures market, in order to feed and help the people, the money changers are again showing us, very brutally and very clearly, who IS IN CHARGE.
Thanks also to the corporate farming interests, genetically modified foods which are showing to be a serious health and environmental danger, are driving out all family farms and local food production, in favor of tapping into the profitable market of providing EVERYTHING, even down to the seeds and control of the nutrients in the ground, for food production.
Other things have changed, also. In Europe, having long experience with war crossing borders and the food crises that this entails, countries have been very protective of their food supplies and their agricultural industries. With the rise of the hyper-government the EU, those borders and food productive containment policies have broken down, food is exported, food is imported, and food is one of the primary elements of a managed global trading system.
America used to be the ‘bread basket’ of the world, but corporate agriculture has done its best to end that potential fall back for hard times. As a commodity, we no longer have a surplus from which we can take to feed our own poor. It has been sold to the highest bidder anywhere in the world other than America. Strip farming practices, like the strip mining before it, over use our top soil, destroy the arable land, and reduce our capacity to feed ourselves.
Government policies through the USDA and FDA make it impossible for the small local farmers and food growers to continue their farming and animal husbandry, passing on burdens and costs that the farmers simply can’t bear.
We must remove food from the commodities exchanges. We must remove the power of corporate agriculture to destroy land, tamper with the food supply, and supercede the needs of the people. We must get the government food-nazis OUT of the business of local farmers.
If we can’t do this, and do it now, we will see the hunger and malnutrition of American citizens that we have never seen before.
